OMG, David! You’ve Let Yourself Go

Saw this on Facebook and trying to find a reference I discovered Eternally Cool. “EternallyCool.net is Rome’s hip hub – here you can keep up with all that’s happening in the world’s oldest and coolest city. Apparently this statute, and another of Lincoln grown portulant just sitting all these years in his chair at the Lincoln Monument for too long, was part of an advertising campaign by Advertising Agency: Scholz & Friends, Hamburg, Germany

High School Students Make a Difference

I only knew about this because a friend’s daughter was involved in NothingButNets.net so when I saw Ashton Kutcher, @aplusk on Twitter.com getting involved I thought that was pretty awesome. He started with a contest between himself and CNN for the title of first Twitter User with over 1,000,000 followers. He succeeded and narrowly beat CNN for the honor of being first to have one million followers. Why does this matter?

It matters to me because even before his challenge to CNN, Kutcher had posted on Twitter he would buy 1,000 nets in the fight to end Malaria, mentioning MalariaNoMore.org. That’s making a difference and I applaud him for both bringing more awareness to the plight of Malaria and also for getting more people involved with Twitter.

Someone said Twitter was silly and nothing more than a way to talk about what you’re having for breakfast, but yet, there’s this social army giving millions to charity, and of course, breaking news from CNN, very worthwhile and very cool.

If you haven’t joined the fun, get an account. Go to Twitter.com, choose a user name and you’re good to go. You choose who to join, effectively killing off the spammers (just unfriend if you get one by mistake), and tools like TweetDeck make it even more fun.

I love food, so it makes sense I’d also love little miniature models of food, though I’m not sure why. Brings out the “oh it’s so cute” in me, I guess.

Google Not so Smart

Google is pretty simple minded, I’ll tell you. I wrote a post in my other blog, Katy’s Morning Rant, (my personal place for just dropping bits of info as I find them), and I posted about a site called DropLoad.com where you can post a large file rather than sending it via e-mail. The funny bit were the Google ads that popped up; all about toilets! Drop a load = toilet ads? Google, you slay me.

Update: Apparently DropLoad was too popular and went the way of the other Web sites with zero revenue. Buh, bye!

Alternatives to try include JetBytes and SentuIt. Try these instead of emailing someone 20mb of photos.

What’s this got to do with weight loss

It’s about distraction, pure and simple. Keep busy. Find something that’s so interesting, you forget to eat. It happens. If you are working and find you keep wanting to go to the kitchen, it may be you are either anxious, bored or both. I know when I get involved in a project, I don’t think about stopping, in fact, sometimes I get hungry but don’t want to stop what I’m doing, and guess what? Hunger leaves for a time. It returns later, but you won’t drop dead if you miss hunger’s call now and then.

My friend asks, “There’s Mexican food, Chinese food, and even Mongolian food but what’s Canada got except bacon?”

2004 Deschutes River, Maupin, Oregon

We’re taking off for our annual trip to Maupin tomorrow. Here’s a photo from last year’s trip. I’m the wild woman hanging on for dear life in the top center. We’re just on the edge of a nice big hole that turns into a bunch of rapids.

The fellow in the bottom corner is my husband, looking calm as can be, and the one in the white hat is one of my gang from high school (30 years later). Notice the 9-year old is having a wonderful time. I’d have been screaming my head off if I were sitting where she is. LOL

I read, this post entitled Yes, Mr. Fireman that is my Ass! in CraigsList and just about fell over laughing.

Kristy’s blog, She Just Walks Around With it, is great, especially when you need a laugh or a smile.

I came across this supposedly classic candy selection from the 1950s, Chocolate Babies. I must have been living under a rock because I’ve never seen this particular item and I have spent more hours than I can count in the pursuit of all things candy.

Is this politically correct? Would you serve this to your friends and family? I found them at Hometown Favorites, Candy Store which is a great place for finding those “hard to find” items like Hershey’s Raspberry flavored baking chips. While there, don’t miss the Hard to Find Grocer, which is what led me there in the first place.

Game developers are really starting to make sense now. They’ve realized that it’s not just about gaming but about getting involved in the game, and that’s brought about the development of Yourself!Fitness.
